About Germany, German Language and German Culture
Germany is one of the most attractive countries in the world in terms of study and work opportunities and as a result many people emigrate to Germany or work with German colleagues. First of all it should be said here that language is obviously the most important tool for discovering a culture, so we suggest that you always have at least a basic knowledge of German. The most important features about German culture are:
- Willkommenskultur - hospitality culture
- Begegnungskultur - interaction and tolerance in German culture
- Erinnerungskultur - historical memory in German culture
Germany is home to over 80 million people - as well as a diverse array of religions, customs, and traditions that make up the rich national psyche. Germany is known for its long and rich history, one that has put it at the forefront of European thought, politics, and art for over 1,000 years. This history has shaped a culture that combines predominantly Christian values with literature, art, philosophy, logic, reason, and, of course, a love of beer and sausages.
